My Knight and Princess

One raining day, Ethan and Karissa decided to play "Knight and Princess." It was so cute to watch them use their imaginations. I just couldn't resist taking pictures.

My Knight in Shining Armour. The broom was his "super fast horse." I even got a ride on the horse.

The beautiful princess, Karissa. What a fun afternoon we had!

And The Winner Is....

Ethan recently won a Coloring Contest. He was SO excited! He won a Family Night Out. It was dinner for 4 to Dave's Pizza and a free movie rental. We had a great time together!
Great Job, Ethan!

Making a Flower Box

Every first Saturday of the month, Home Depot put on a hands-on expo for kids. They are allowed to come in a make a project, and there is no cost. April's project was a Flower Box.

Ethan's did a great job hammering in all his nails, and he didn't even hit his fingers.

Karissa did a great job hammering too!

The finished master pieces! Next, we are going to paint them and then add flowers.

TRICKS!

One glorious afternoon, the kids wanted to show me their "tricks" that they could do. Karissa showed me tricks on her roller blades and Ethan showed me tricks with his bike.

Karissa's "tricks" were to show me how fast she can go and how she can jump with her roller blades.

This was quite fun to be pulled with their jump rope, until Karissa was pulled to fast and fell and skinned her knee.

Ethan's "tricks" were to show me how fast he could ride his bike down our driveway. I couldn't figure out what his other trick was until he came within inches of hitting our garage and car. He was riding his bike with his eyes closed! I think I got a few gray hair that day!

A New Pillowcase

Karissa has been begging me to teach her how to sew on the sewing machine. So we decided to start by making a Pillowcase. We had some extra fabric (leftover from pajamas), and it was a great place to start.

She was concentrating so hard to get the seam even.

The finished product - a new pillowcase. She did such a terrific job! Now, her next project is going to be a reversible apron.

I Am Thankful For....

I just returned from making a quick trip to Walmart and I met one of the poorest families I have seen in a long time. They were so dirty and their little boy was so sweet, but you could tell that they did not have much money. It brought to mind a challenge that was given to us ladies at one of our Biblical Womanhood Classes. The challenge was to list at least 50 or more things that you were thankful for. Here are a few things from my list:

I AM THANKFUL FOR:
1. God.
2. Jesus - without Him there would be no remission for sins.
4. The Bible
5. My salvation.
6. My husband
8. My children
12. running water - can you imagine going to the lake every day for water?
14. Gasoline for my car & heat
16. clock/watch - without it I would always be late
18. My Godly parents & for the life they gave me.
25. My senses - sight, hearing, taste, smell, touch
30. Hair Products, curling irons
32. My computer - without it I would not be typing this
43. Signs (on the highway, on buildings ) - otherwise, I would forever be lost
50. My washing machine & dryer - can you imagine doing your laundry by hand?
64. Light, lamps & flashlights
70. Soap - need I say more
77. Musical Instruments
85. Laughter
91. God's grace
94. Godly Council
100. Salt & Pepper
These are just a few from my list. My challenge is to you: Next time you find yourself in the "gotta have it now" mood and the "green-eye jealously bug" comes knocking on your door, stop and make a list of everything you are thankful for. You will be SO amazed at how many wonderful things you already have. (This is really great for kids. It really helps them appreciate what they already have.) Have Fun!
